I will continue to work with state and federal partners to protect our state's values, and to uphold legal, ethical and moral standards - and the Constitutional rights and liberties - that have distinguished America from the rest of the world for generations.

The way I see it hatred, racism and bigotry are like embers that, over time - with honest debate, leadership, and a firm commitment to our moral and democratic values - can be extinguished.

From the Green Mountain boys who joined the fight for independence; to a war that saved the Union, and two wars that would encircle the world; to Korea and Vietnam and the Middle East, and our F-16s defending the skies above Ground Zero on September 11, 2001; Vermonters have always answered our nation's call.

As more companies look to reduce or negate their environmental footprint, it is crucial for Vermont to be a destination with an affordable renewable energy grid to partner with companies and achieve our shared goals.
