I think any team wants to have the best driver line-up possible.

Lewis is obviously the greatest of all time and Max, everyone knows how fast and talented he is.

I want to do everything possible that will make me go faster because ultimately I'm a racing driver and that's what we're here to do. To do the best job possible.

I'm really enjoying being part of Mercedes, seeing how they operate as a team.

Does listening to positive feedback make me faster? No. It probably boosts my ego slightly but it doesn't make me any faster. And equally listening to negative feedback doesn't make me faster either.

I don't think any driver would be naive to think they could go up against a seven-time world champion and have it easy. Because a guy like Lewis is who he is because of his speed and determination.

When you're going around the corner at 180 mph, the force that produces, is just astronomical. On your neck it equates to about 50 kilos of force.

Going up against Lewis probably takes the pressure off if anything, because no one will expect me to beat him.

Obviously for me, growing up and watching F1 and dreaming of being a Formula 1 driver, I mean, it was every kid's dream to be part of a team like Williams.

Naturally in any organisation, if you've got people leaving or change of personnel, it's never going to be a stable environment.

Lewis stood up to him in 2021 and Lewis lost that championship unfairly. Could you imagine the roles being reversed? Max losing that championship in the manner of how Lewis lost that championship?

I look at my garage, my team, my crew, and I work on myself.

Athletes have their career for 15 years and you have to make the most of it because once it's over, it's over.

We can't live in the past.

I've been in a position where I've been on a roll for a couple of races, and then suddenly, the next race, I'm off the pace.

You learn as you get older what you need as an individual.

I don't care if I have the greatest driver of all time in the garage next to me, or if I'm a one-man team. It doesn't change the way I approach my job.

There are so many people in life who want to be good at everything. And that's just not realistic, because you end up being average at everything.

I sort of do like box breathing and works for me. It sort of relaxes my mind and takes a bit of pressure off.

It is easy to find the solution to get the car lower to the ground, but by doing that solution it will make the car slower. You need to find the way to keep the potential and get the car low to the ground. That's the challenge.
