All I'm interested in is being creative and working with creative people.

I've always been me own man and done me own thing, so anyone shouting a loop about the coffee not being hot enough - I just let them get on with it. As long as it doesn't affect me.

It's brilliant to work on a set where no one's flipping out or throwing a tantrum.

I really wanted to be slick - I used to wear a suit just to be slick. But the suit got a bit ragged, and I got faster and faster, and I became an exaggeration of myself.

There's a way forward by not relying on the old cliches.

I'm just not built for schmoozing.

My dad always said to me, 'You have got to work,' so I constantly worked and did comedy tours.

We lived in the top-floor council flat, the same level as the flyovers going past the window. I loved it. I used to imagine who the people were, what they were doing, what their lives were like.

I do what interests me.

I see the stage as one place, where you sing, dance, move. It doesn't matter.

We used to quote Mel Brooks lines when we grew up. He's my biggest hero.

I don't even consider myself a comedian.

Me and the missus have come a long way since our first flat in Southend. When I first came to London I looked in the Standard for a job.

I will never go back to Hollywood. It was like a nightmare. I enjoyed it at the time, but I wanted to be back with my family - I love them!

My comedy is about nothing. I do it because I feel less inadequate on stage moving about than I do off stage standing still.
