I wrote a song about how I hated Wednesdays, and I played it at my school talent show. It definitely made people concerned for me, and a lot of my early songwriting was very sad and dark and involved things that I was miserable about as an 8-year-old, which I can't imagine I had much to complain about.

To think that there might be a generation of kids playing 'You're Gonna Go Far' at their graduation is an honor.

Every time I make a song, I'm like, 'The next one's going to suck,' and I think I just need to keep trying. I don't know. Maybe if it stinks, it stinks, but what I'm happy about is I've gotten myself in front of a lot of people, and I've lived out some dreams.
