Madrid is a club with very high demands.

Unfortunately, the life of a player is not forever.

As a player, I've always been interested in understanding the coaches' minds, in seeing how they made a group function.

I like to take on challenges.

Coaching is not easy.

If you're a talented player, and you're 20 years old, you should be playing in the UEFA Champions League or in the elite European teams like AC Milan, Juventus, or Chelsea.

The best players want to play for the best clubs in Europe and appear in top competitions like the Champions League.

I'm going to stop playing football after 22 years.

I began training the young players at Nova Iguacu and at Boavista, and I enjoyed it. I had always wanted to be a coach, and this accelerated the process.

You have to want to improve all the time.

Real Madrid has a lot of high expectations, not only in terms of results but also with nice football and a lot of goals.

The most important thing for me is to value the players and try to improve them individually in order to improve the team.

I have been fortunate to work with many great coaches and also in different countries, and I have taken a bit from all of them - Dutch, Spanish, Italian, and Brazilian football.

If a guy has five good games and then starts to go out, drink, sleep late, live the wrong kind of lifestyle, then his performances will always suffer.

Once you stop wanting to improve, you start to slide. And if you want to keep winning, if you want to stay at the top, that's not something you can afford to do.

When we're playing, I really shape my body to receive the ball - even before it gets to me.

But I think we have to enjoy the moment, because when it stops, it stops. And I think that as long as I'm fit, I need to be on the pitch, running.

Humanitarian work is something I've felt from very young, and I'm going to do that for sure.

I think that you cannot have everything in life, and sometimes you just - destiny wants you to take another path.

Let's say that the teams I played in were all excellent. I played with many, many great players and incredible teams.
