Valentine's Day

I'm more of a cynic, but my husband loves 'Rent.' For Valentine's Day, I got him a 'Rent' walking tour. All it was was a man pulling up photos from the movie on his phone and going, like, 'In the movie, they go to Life Cafe.' And then he took us to a thrift store and it was, like, 'Angel wore a coat you could probably find in a thrift store.'

Valentine's Day is a holiday of high emotions, mostly stress. The occasion has the unique ability to make both those who do participate in it and those who don't feel vaguely unfulfilled.

I have no use for Valentine's Day, with its limited menu and cramped seating.

I have never once celebrated a Valentine's Day as a romantic holiday. For me, it's another opportunity to tell my kids or whoever how much I love them. I hang pink crepe paper and make heart-shaped pancakes!

I think Valentine's Day is one of those holidays like New Year's where people develop such high expectations that even if it's a decent day, it doesn't live up, and it's disappointing.
