I have a deep, dark desire within me to be accepted by others. I also have the desire to make things that are insane. But the part of me that wants to make things that are insane still desperately needs people to like it.

I think a lot of people like to romanticize comedians being outsider romantic losers.

I have kind of a 'no' face. I don't have crazy-distinct features.

I think that you learn not to have any hopes that are too big when you're in comedy. You're just keeping your head down and working.

I think 'SNL' gets a weird reputation just because it's been on TV for so long, like 'It's so competitive and cutthroat!' That's what I thought going into it. But it's not. You're writing stuff with your friends and everybody wants you to succeed and everybody's working together to make the best possible show. It's cool.

It's a fun challenge to make Chucky attacking a bunch of women in an office funny, you know what I mean? Because if you take things too seriously it's scary. Just in life in general.

I think I did a pretty good job in Chicago where there was a very specific kind of crowd who came to my shows; it was all the freaks.

Doing really abrasive gross-out comedy prepared me for knowing what it feels like to bomb. It's possible to bomb, I've done it. It never feels good, but I've gotten it out of my system.

I love touring, because freaks are everywhere. We did a show in Asheville, North Carolina, and a car-full of freaky kids showed up with figurines that they had made of everyone in the show. And I still have mine! It's sitting on my shelf right now. It's a Sarah Squirm figure, it's posable.

I like it when things are as outrageous as possible.

My friends called me 'Squirmin' Sherman' because I was so disgusting, of course.

I was a fan of Louie Zakarian's work from before 'SNL' because he used to do all these crazy Troma movies.

Sometimes when there are no limitations, I feel crippled by infinity. The idea of infinite possibility. When you're given limitations, it's just a challenge that's interesting. I hope I'm more of a well-rounded writer and individual because of it.

I had Raggedy Ann dolls. Thinking about it now, Raggedy Ann has heavily influenced the way I dress. I had a bunch of Lamb Chop dolls, too.

I don't remember having many dolls, but I remember my grandma bought me this giant coffee table book called 'The History of Barbie.' I remember being obsessed with that. All the girls had American Girl dolls, but my mom thought it was stupid and didn't want me to have them.

Adam Sandler is life.

I was always a visual comedian. That's why all the body stuff comes into play - as a performer, it has every tool I need.

Because of 'SNL,' I don't have to tour alone, and I can write jokes with my friends and make people laugh, and that's the best part of the job.

I wanted to read a lot and do well in school - which is so boring - but I was an overachiever.

Sometimes you don't have to do the things you think you have to do to get a job.
